Wireless Internet Services

Mojavewifi.com offers high speed wireless internet access to residents of the Morongo Basin including Joshua Tree, Twentynine Palms, Yucca Valley and surrounding desert areas.

Below are some of our most frequently asked questions about wireless internet services.

An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a company (such as Mojavewifi.com) that provides internet to your home or business.
Wireless Internet is a specific way of bringing high-speed broadband internet to your home or business. We install a small radio antenna onto the eave of your home, pointing towards our local Access Point. This device captures an encrypted radio frequency, which is then run into your home using an Ethernet cable.

The speed of service you will want depends on what you like to use the internet for, as well as how many devices you intend to have on the internet.  Our Basic service (6Mbps) is perfect for those to use the internet to check emails, use online services such as banking, and other day-to-day activities. However, if you like to watch videos online (such as Netflix and Hulu), or play games online (such as World of Warcraft) or with gaming systems (X-Box, PS3), we recommend our Premium (12Mbps) or Advanced (16Mbps) services for those activities. Professional (20Mbps) and Extreme (30Mbps) are usually recommended if you have many devices that will be on the internet at the same time. For commercial and business use we have Super Extreme (60Mbps) and Super Extreme Plus (100Mbps). The highest speed plans may not be available in all areas yet. Please contact us for more information.

Switching to a higher or lower speed is very easy with us! All it takes is one phone call to our Service department. We can make this change right from our office, so there’s no need to have a technician come out! Billing will be adjusted on the day of the speed adjustment, and your regular billing will continue on the 1st.

If you plan to use just one wired device, such as a PC or a laptop, then we will simply connect an Ethernet cable directly into your computer. You won’t need a router. However, if you plan to use more than one device, or if you want to use any of your devices wirelessly (WiFi), then you need to provide your own wireless router. Please note that Mojavewifi.com does not provide routers. Ask one of our friendly staff for recommendations of the brands and types of routers we recommend. Our installation comes with a free router hook-up – which means unboxing a preconfigured router and physically hooking up one wired and/or one wireless device at the time of installation. Free router hookup does not provide customized network names or customized security keys or passwords.

More complicated setup of routers, devices, including customized password, and network names, networked printers, and setups with more than 1 wired and 1 wireless devices requires a Professional Router and Home Network Set up service. Professional Router and Home Network device setup is $120.00 per hour with 1 hour minimum. Most setups require more or less 1 hour minimum. The installation technician may or may not be available to complete a Professional Router and Home Network set up at the same time as the installation. It is strongly advised that Pro Router and Home Network appointments be made to occur at the same time as an installation appointment. Please see our Installation FAQ page for more details.

No. We do not store any wireless keys, passwords, or IDs. Usually, new routers come with a pre-printed card which has your router name and password printed on it, which is usually stored underneath the router or in some other storage location. To reset your router to the pre-printed factory default settings, look for the reset button on your router, or consult the manufacturer’s instructions for your device. Follow the instructions that came with your router or call the manufacturer directly for further assistance.

If you press the reset button on your router, it basically wipes the router clean and resets it back to how it was out of the box. Any devices you have connected to it wirelessly will need to be connected again. Follow the instructions that came with your router or call the router manufacturer directly for assistance. Mojavewifi.com can send a technician out to set your devices back online. The Professional Router and Home Network setup fee will apply.
